We get something anyway!

Phil McGraw conveys aptly “Eighty percent of all choices are based on fear. Most people don’t choose what they want; they choose what they think is safe”. Can it get any more frank?

We all run into opportunities of choosing from a variety of options each day, each hour, each minute. Starting from the time we make our way into the world – where we decide whether to cry or just stay there unmoved and depending on what we choose at that moment, a series of other options follow. Like choosing between right or wrong, truth or lie, righteous or corrupt, blue or pink, to take it or to let it go, hot or cold, to move on or to hold on ‘coz of an undying hope, to wake up and chase the day or to drift back to creating realities in dreams.

The decisions we choose to live with form us into who we are and what we transform ourselves from that point onward. Every time a choice is made we shape our world differently from what it would have been, had we opted otherwise! Well, in a way bad choices are way better than not choosing at all. As, this way you at least can trace back the route from bad results to the bad choices that were made while being utmost aware.

“There are no safe choices. Only other choices – Libba Bray”. It’s kind of funny, how some of us choose to not choose at all; well you are making a choice there too! I wonder if there is any way that we could just have a say in nothing and wait and see how the life transforms for us. Yet again, would we like a life where our opinions don’t matter at all? Would we just want to be a spectator, while our entire life screens before us? That would be a hell of a task for me ‘coz I would like to have a say in the placement of stars too, only if the universe allowed me to!

I tumbled upon this in”Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult” where she mentions – “In the space between yes and no, there’s a lifetime. It’s the difference between the path you walk and the one you leave behind; it’s the gap between who you thought you could be and who you really are; it’s the legroom for the lies you’ll tell yourself in the future” and I think it’s gonna make you think about the choices you make and the alternatives you let go.

This doesn’t come from a philosopher or a writer, but I do think that its way too difficult to live a life shaped out of the consequences of decisions made by someone other than you!  – Take Charge! Build yourself – Fall Down – Create yourself up!
